azfar's brother's wedding thing
So, this morning, I went to Azfar's brother's wedding thingy. All I can think of is, wow, how fast time flies. Really it is. I still remember somewhere in August last year, Azfar asked me whether I wanted to go. I wasn't thinking of it much since, c'mon, that's like next year. And this morning, there I was. In the wedding. It feels... surreal? I don't know how to explain that. Anyway, this is also MY FIRST TIME EVER setting foot in Azfar's house! Yes, 5 years of friendship, NEVER once he invited me to his house. Oh. My. God. Yeah yeah yeah, I'm being dramatic but still! It's still in freaking Subang. I mean, he went once to my former Subang house! It ain't fair ya hear me? haha.
Anyway, last Thursday was evidently Azfar's birthday. So, what's my present for him?
A cake.
A homemade cake.
Yes, I made a cake from scratch. For the first time ever! Here it is!
ISN'T IT SO CUTE? haha. It's adorable and ugly at the same time! hahah! I'm pretty proud of the lettering since I've spent hours just to spell out the words. The cake itself? Well, it wasn't that amazing. Seriously, even I'm not crazy about it. One, the bottom layer of the cake was soggy for some reason - don't know why. I mean, I used the whole test-with-a-toothpick thing. And sometimes, I'd bite onto bitter coffee bits that should've been grounded fine. ODDNESSITY. Argh, baking is like high school science experiments. Even if you follow the instructions careful, you might not get the kesimpulan that you should have.
The guys couldn't stop making cracks about it though. Things like 'food poisoning' or 'can somebody pleeaassee finish it for me' is thrown around. Then, when they realise they might have pushed it too far, they start sucking up on me. Like, 'if it really is bad, we wouldn't insult it' and 'it's really nice lah atikah really!' blah blah. haha. WHATEVER.
Ok, before I forgot:
HAPPY 18TH BIRTHDAY SHAFIQ!
Funny, we sang a birthday song for Azfar and not for Shafiq. Hmmm.. Ah well.
I was Miss Punctual today! I even surprised myself. I was one of the earliest people. So, I was insanely nervous. Bordering hysterical really. Because everyone else is at home being comfy while I was already there and I don't even know which one was the house actually! I didn't even know who the bride and the groom's names until I saw those little sign boards at the streets. haha. Anyway, I called up Azfar and made him meet me outside.
I was wearing a black baju kurung. And at that time, the weather was beyond spastic-hot so I was whining all the time. I like that baju kurung ok! I met Azzy's family members. And then, Azfar gave me a bit of a tour in the house. OH MY GOD, you have to see the bilik pengantin! Gobsmacked, ok. It was so incredibly beautiful. The furnitures, the arrangements, etc. I especially love the vanity counter in the room. It was flew in from Indonesia and it was gorgeous. I would love to have it in my room despite it maybe being too big. His room was pretty interesting. It's actually a room in a room! And it's blue. Geez. How surprising.
Then I just hung out with Azfar until the others came. I didn't want to eat alone so I waited for the others. Oh yeah, met an ex-schoolmate named Ashrul who also has a brother named Ashrul... Okay... Then Adilah came. Then, I met Adilah's mum. Then, I found Nawal. Then, Azfar went up to the three of us. Then, we head back to the house and get down to food! It was the usual wedding affair apart from the spaghetti. Sorry Azfar but I forgot to eat the spaghetti!
Then Diana and Miza and Shafiq came. Eat eat eat. Cutting the story short. And then onto celebrating Azfar's birthday!
We went up to his room since we didn't want to make a hoopla in the living room. The party... was more like a hangout. All of us were just lounging on his bed and eating my cake. My cake.. At one point, they were all bullying me! God, I hate it when that happens! And oh man, Azfar actually did his freaking homework along the way! I kid you not.
I mean, dude, this is his 18th birthday party and he wanted to do his homework??? Party animal, that guy. Honestly. He had this sappy look on his face and he was all 'But my homework tak siap... got class tomorrow... what to do...' Awww so kesian! He was also giving subtle hints like, 'WHEN ARE YOU GUYS GONNA GO HOME?' hahaha. Subtle much?
Then our number fizzled out as Shafiq, Miza and Diana went home. It was just me, Nawal, Adilah and Azfar. We hung out. Laughed a hell lot. Played sep-sep. Camwhored a bit. And surprisingly, the time went really fast. I thought it was just about 2 hours there but actually I've stayed that for 5 hours. After Nawal went home, I followed suit and left Adilah and Azfar to watch the presents-opening session...
All in all, it was interesting. I've never met Azfar's family members. And the funny thing was that all these times I was living in Subang, I've had always passed his house but I just didn't know it. Sometimes, I drove past it with my car or even during those times I had evening walks with my parents. It's odd. haha. I never knew. Oh yes, the bride and groom! I had not talked about them at all! The bride was really pretty and really nice. Azfar has finally got a sister! I can't wait till I get a brother... and I told my sister that. haha.
Azfar's brother actually looked younger than Azfar. haha! I noticed it when they were walking around and greeting visitors. Seriously, his brother could pass off as the college dude while Azfar as the groom! hhaah. YOU LOOK OLD, BABE. haha. Everyone agreed with me so there you go. Ah well, strangers always think I'm the eldest between me and my sister anyways. Eventhough she's the one who always wear make up and high heels and everything. The world is blind.
-- I wanna clear up this fact because for some reason, at the wedding, some oddnessity happened. Me and Shafiq are just friends. I know, stating this fact alone would hurl me into the core of the subject but seriously, we are just that. Nothing more and hopefully, nothing less. So, I hope that you guys would just drop it. It's just stale high school drama anyways. Nothing will ever happened from that. So.. Move along now..
