So.

I WENT TO JAMES MORRISON'S CONCERT LAST THURSDAY.

Okay okay, it wasn't his concert precisely. It was Live N Loud KL Acoustic night.



Let me start from the beginning.

So, a few weeks back, I heard that James Morrison was coming to town. Look, I am a big fan of his. Okay, that's a lie. I've never been to his official website, don't know his birthday, most of my favourite songs of his are the ones that are played on radio etc etc. But I'll be damned if I don't go to his concert. I mean, IT'S FREAKING JAMES MORRISON, MAN! Other people might not get the hype. They'll go, well, he ain't JT or anything, you know?

My answer is just this: IT'S FREAKING JAMES MORRISON, MAN!


Plus, JM's 'You Give Me Something' song is my song. Really. That's really how I feel when I am interested in somebody. If I listen to that song again and again, trust me, I'll fall in love with the next guy I see. I am not even kidding.

A few months back, I missed Gwen Stefani. So I am obviously not going to miss James Morrison!

Used my scholarship money. Bought the tickets. Escaped from Nilai hellhole by sheer intelligence and sleuthness. haha. Zoomed to KLCC YEAH BABY! At one point though, we thought we were going to MISS it. Oh you know, KL and its traffic jams. The concert was supposed to start at 8 and at 7.45, we were still stuck in traffic. Me and my sister crack up jokes so we don't wail and scratch the car's interior from panic. Meanwhile, Abang Fazul, my cousin, waited for us patiently in KLCC for our arrival. Since we have his ticket. And he is not that into James Morrison anyways. He's our chaperone. I - kid - you - not.

Before the night itself, I didn't think much because, well, deep down I don't want to put a high expectation on this show. It's been years since my last concert and it is James Morrison. But oh god, when I was queueing up for the concert, I feel like exploding!

And I have all the reasons to be.

it was the BOMB.
it was absolutely amazing.
mind-blowing.
earth-shattering.

The concert began with the filler Dayang Nur Faizah. Dayang is probably the most hardworking artiste ever. She's everywhere! But you know what? She's just not that interesting. She has a voice but... She did a rendition of Hurt by Christina Aguilera. Now, from what I learned from American Idol is it's either you do a better version or a different version of the song. Well, suffice to say, I still like Christina's version. She wore a cute bubble dress though.

Then, there was Rick Price. I have no idea who this man was until that night. In fact, I even turned to my cousin and go, 'Is he famous??' because the crowd was giving him a genuine loud cheer. But he is good! Kinda unexpected. Though I have to say this, I actually thought he was just another filler. But he wasn't. He shared the same concert time with JM. Meaning, I went through two hours hearing songs I do not know. Hmmm... During the first Rick Price song, I thought, hey, this guy is bloody good! My cousin even told me he wanted to be gay for Rick! hahaa! It's a joke, really. Then during the fourth song, I was getting a bit restless. By the eighth song I was already slumped on my chair and was thinking, when is Jamie gonna come out??

But then Rick Price finally ended his performance and then we had to wait for James Morrison pulak! At this point, I was really tired. My cousin, who initially wanted to be gay for Rick, slept throughout his supposing-would-be-lover's performance. I was already tired because it was a weekday and I had spent the morning in classes. It was already 10 something. Me and my sister and my cousin was making jokes about maybe James Morrison was being a diva at the backstage to explain his tardiness in performing that night. haha.

THEN, SUDDENLY, A GUY WITH A MOP OF CURLY HAIR CAME ONSTAGE. The crowd went wild! I went wild! We thought, GOD, FINALLY HE'S HERE. OH MY GOD! JAMES MORRISON WE LOVE YOU!


Alas, it was the just the sound guy.

You can hear the MC was laughing from his voice. He was like, 'don't worry folks. James Morrison is coming real soon.' haha. Oh my god, what kind of fans are we?? We can't even differentiate between James Morrison and a technician! We so do not DESERVE those concert tickets! But to tell you the truth, he does look a wee bit like James Morrison what with the hair and the button down shirt. It's either that or Elliot Yamin. haha. I bet the technician guy is going to get a lot of love in Elliot Yamin's concert too. haha.

Anyway, we waited and waited. And waited.

Then, finally the MC started to announce his arrival.

Oh god, I could feel my heart exploding in bursts. I was at the edge of my seat. My face was in a mix of smiling and gaping. I was thinking, oh my god, I am actually going to witness James Morrison performing LIVE.

And then I saw him.

I lost it, basically. My cousin can attest to that. haha.

I was screaming my lungs out! OMG OMG OMG! I feel like bawling from the sheer happiness BECAUSE OH MY GOD I AM ACTUALLY SEEING HIM IN PERSON! He was waving to the wild crowd and blowing kisses! He was wearing this pink shirt and a black vest. WAAAAAH. Thank you GOD! From that on, the night was just fucking unbelievable. It was... oh my god, I can't even explain how AMAZING it went!

He started the concert with the song 'Undiscovered'. Oh god, I got goosebumps. It was so good. It was one thousand times better than the CD version even though all he had was a guitar and piano. Gorgeous. When he said he was going to perform a break-up song, I gasped. And yes, he began playing 'The Pieces Don't Fit Anymore'. And I began to melt. The whole crowd began to melt. The whole crowd sang along. The whole crowd felt like their hearts are breaking to pieces because the song he sang was so beautiful. Then he went, 'I think you all know this song that I am going to play.' before singing 'You Give Me Something.'


Weh, rasa macam mati hidup balik when he sang that song.



I can hear my sister say 'Oh god, I think I'm going to cry!'. Honestly, I felt that way too. It is after all, my song, and hearing it live just takes your breath away. And for a long time, I felt that amazing euphoria feeling. And his sexy husky voice... Sigh.

And damn, he is funny as hell too! Between songs, he would crack up jokes! Which obviously makes us love him even more. He said a couple of malay words like 'terima kasih' with his British accent and they turned out funny. He said thank you everytime he finished a song. Awww!! Damn, that boy stole my heart. This is some funny things he said that night. It may not be spot-on accurate words but it's pretty much the gist of it:

JM: I'm hot! *started to drink water and wiping his face with a towel*
The audience: WOOOO!! YES YOU ARE!!!
JM: No, I mean the weather! This is hottest country I've been to.
Some Girl: Take your shirt off!
JM: *didn't hear her*
An Obviously Male Person: TAKE YOUR SHIRT OFF!!!!!
JM: I'm not that hot! *laughs*

JM: Ooh.. we got a very sexy crowd tonight. *winks*

JM: *after a song and the crowd was screaming like mad* This is really flattering.

An Obviously Male Fan: JAMES MORRISON, I THINK YOU ARE SEXY IN A REALLY SEXUAL WAY!
JM: *uncomfortable-ish* Uh... Yeah, man!.. I think you're sexy too... In a man-to-man kinda way... You know??

JM: I'm not gay *laughs* Not that there's anything wrong with that. It's a free world. *pauses* Well, kinda free. *pauses* I think we should just leave that to the other people. *laughs*



haha. I think there's more but I kinda forgot. But he was really funny and being all-around charming. Sigh. Ooh, AND HE PLAYED US A NEW SONG! At that time, I didn't know because I thought he was just doing a cover of a song I didn't know. But then, he went on and say 'You guys are the first people in the whole entire world to hear my new song.'

I felt so special... hahahaha!

AND YES, THE PERFECT ENDING TO A GREAT NIGHT:

So, he ended a song and then he said thank you and everyone thought IT WAS OVER. We were like, no! Don't go, James! DON'T! Then a guy started to chant: WE WANT JAMES! WE WANT JAMES! And then everybody started doing it. But he already left and we waited for a few minutes but he didn't came back. We felt so sad because we really thought it was the end of the concert. Some people was already moving to the exit. When suddenly, parts of the audience started screaming again! He came back for an encore performance!

At that point, the audience was uncontrollable. The people who already got off their seats rushed to the side of the stage. Me and my sister, totally starstruck at this point, ran to the side of the stage too with my cousin in tow. I WAS JUST 5 FEET AWAY FROM JAMES MORRISON, PEOPLE! I was soooo close! So incredibly close! (I have a picture of him but my phone is acting weird so I will update that later. ) And at the side of the stage I was standing had a staircase. Meaning, if I was a sprinter in my high school, if I was not wearing wedges, if I was mad enough to wrestle the bouncers to get up onstage, I would totally run up there and hug him! I WAS SERIOUSLY THINKING OF DOING THAT. While screaming my lungs out, I was contemplating whether I should pull this crazy stunt. But I didn't. Somehow, I manage to find a bit of restraint.

He was singing 'The Last Goodbye'. Boleh tak?? I think somebody in the audience teared up at this point. It was so incredibly sad. Not to mention very fitting for the last song. And then finally, he ended the song. He waved, he bowed, he blowed kisses to us, he blowed our minds away.

Then, do you know what else he did?

He went to MY SIDE OF THE STAGE and shook all of our hands. INCLUDING MINE.

THE PERFECT ENDING TO A GREAT NIGHT, I TELL YOU!

Gah... It was a fantastic night. Freaking fantastic.
