a day in klcc

We had an outing in KLCC!

yey.

It's so freaking awesome since whenever there's an outing with my buddies, it's always Parade or Pyramid. Parade - Pyramid. Pyramid. Parade. Pyramid. Pyramid. Parade. Pyramid. Parade. Parade. You get my point, right? The last time I've been to KLCC with my friends are way back in February 2006 for my senior pages pictures. So, yes, I got super-duper excited! And plus, me and Diana planned to go to this exhibition on Perkembangan Sains dalam Tamadun Islam. Which is, you know, an interesting thing.. haha..

Nowadays, I steer clear from our usually normal routine of movies-lunch-lepak-home. Because we hardly see much of each other so why waste the time by doing something we've done trillions of times?

Anyway, this whole thing actually exploded from the real plan, really.

It started one night when Adilah invited me to join her and Azfar on their future escapade in KLCC on Thursday. And as usual, I can't give a straight answer since there's the transportation issue. But my brain was calculating - I hardly hangout in KLCC and this would be the FIRST TIME EVER I'll meet Adilah. Hmmm... Seems like fun but I still gave it a thought or two. For one thing, I'm scared to get all hyped and finally, learned that I can't go. That happens a lot. So, I smsed Azfar and he said that it may be the last time I'll get the chance to see her. I don't know what that means though.

AND THEN...

Me and Diana experienced this crazy-ass unexplainable phenomenon that makes the whole outing perfect with a capital p. I call it the Psychic Friendship Thang!

So, on Tuesday night, I was feeling all schmucked for some reason and missing Diana like crazy. It's like withdrawal pains or something! So we smsed to each other and complaining about the boredom in our lives when suddenly - Diana suggested to go to the exhibition thing happening in KLCC. And I'm like, OMG, this is such a coincidence! And I smsed back to her whether she wanna do it on Thursday. And she's like, OMG, I wanted to suggest it on Thursday too! We have some psychic thing going on!

So, there it goes. Me from interested to crazy hippy excited. Because it's perfect! I get to see Diana and Adilah and Azfar. And then we get to do the whole exhibition thing which makes the whole outing different from the usuals. And we're going to KLCC. And I don't have to sacrifice another person to see the other person. And it's all in one day!

It's like killing two birds with one stone. It's like having your cake and eat it too. It's all the peribahasa that I learned and forgot!

But there's this one part of me that goes, 'Meh. Can I do this? I mean Adilah invited me and now I'm making all these new plans without even asking her first.' I felt kinda guilty plotting up plans and stuff if, you know, it's supposed to be a small trio outing. I mean, I would hate it if it was me. But as perfection goes, Adilah was cool with the idea. So yey! Diana is in!

Then, I remembered Gg and I thought since Diana is following so I might as well invite good ol' Geegers too since I haven't seen her since her birthday party which was in freaking December. But she got other plans but it's ok, I guess, since we're both going to Miza's birthday party next week. GG, I HOPE YOU'RE READING THIS BECAUSE THERE IS ONE GIRL IN KAJANG WHO IS IN DIRE NEED OF HER NADZIRAH YUNOS.

And after all these excitement? I haven't even asked my parents yet! But it so happens that they were free on the particular date... So onto the outing!

(What I meant when I said the plan was blown out of proportion was that somehow, loads of people found out about the outing. I mean, it just started from three people knowing and then bam! Ok, Diana obviously knew because I told her. Then, Gg and Saufi knew because I put a major guilty trip on Gg and Saufi has something to do with Gg not making it for the outing. Then, Farisa knew because she suddenly asked me that am I having a date with Adilah soon? Haha. Shafiq also knew because Diana told him before he handed my camera to her. And somehow - my brain is still figuring it out - Izzati knew! She called me like 5 times on Thursday morning because she wanted to follow! I really don't know how she knew because I didn't mention it to her and later, Diana also said she doesn't know how Izzati knew. She just does! Did. Do. Whatever.)

On the morning itself, I took my time getting ready since I got up early. I already picked my outfit the day before so I breezed through that. Farisa even called me! She sounded so sad and sighed all the way. I mean, she called me just to wish me to have fun?! And then we hung up because Farisa needed to go back to her work. OH PFFT. And there I was - feeling all sympathetic towards Farisa because she couldn't join us. Anyway, it's about 11.30 in the morning and I was nibbling my beloved nuggets and complaining to my mum that I don't want to be late for the outing when I got a call from Azfar.

He's like, where are you??

I'm like, what the hell! You all can't be there already!

But they were. Waiting in Kinokuniya, no less. Basically, I was freaking out and practically motioned my mum out of the house.

45 minutes later, I was walking through KLCC. Azfar already called me again because I was 30 minutes late. Heh. Anyway, what're the slowest things on earth? KLCC's elevators. Seriously. On that day itself, there was a lot of foreigners but I didn't see a blue-eyed hottie anywhere. After eons had passed, the elevator finally brought me up to the top floor and then I felt all heebeejeebies inside. I don't know why but suddenly I'm all nervous to see my friends. Weird, I know. Anyway, I was thinking maybe I can lurk between the shelves to sneak up on them when suddenly I saw Azfar looking at me. For some reason, with my completely rabun eyes, I could still notice Azfar even between throngs of other human beings. So they all made their way to me and then I said hi to Adilah, not exactly knowing it's her at first until she greeted me. Haha. Sorry! I didn't know it was really you! And then - Farisa was there. Effing Farisa who said 'she needs to do her work now. bye'. Go back to your work! haha. I seriously do not know how she even get there! She said she rode a car but still. She actually arrived in KLCC earlier than me. How is that possible??

Then, we decided to lunch. The night before, I had unofficially built the We Are Broke club. Because me, Diana and Adilah are broke so we don't want fancy dining but my mum gave me some dough earlier in the day, so I cancelled the club. Because apparently I'm the president of the We Are Broke club. And I thought I can't go any lower. haha. Now, me being the indesicive being that I am, I preferred the Food Court because you know, loads of choices to choose from. But Azfar was being picky so we headed to California Pizza Kitchen. It's my first time dining there - and it would be the last, I tell you!

For one thing, I thought CPK is a posh dining place but it wasn't really. The pizzas there cost about RM 20 to RM 40. Affordable. I thought the price would break our hearts. But they have a real nice layout though. The restaurant had the view of the KLCC park and all. So, I felt all great and thought, wow, this could be a routine! Dead wrong, Kiki. So, we were going to order our food and stuff and we didn't know which to choose from since everything is new to us. So, they let me choose the pizza. I thought, ok, let's eat something different! So I picked this pizza named BLT. I've read the description and it sounded delicious. It said laden with turkey bacon slices - oooh, exotic pizza topping. It said hearth-baked - oooh, exotic cooking technique. So, there you go. Our first mistake.

Before the pizza arrived, Azfar's salad came. Look, I'm not a big fan of the greenies but I have seen salad that are a hundred times much more appetizing than the one served to Azfar. I'm freaking serious! It's like the chefs figured to just chop up any veggies within reach and dump them all in a bowl. Yes, the term I'm using here is 'dump'. Not to mention the greenies looked like a week-old. Not appetizing at all. Then, I revealed to Adilah that I hate the greenies with all my heart and the only reason I'm eating them at all are because I figured they're healthy and most of the time, I'm forced to eat them anyways.

That's when the BLT pizza came.

And guess what?

On the pizza, there were MOUNTAINS and MOUNTAINS of chopped SALAD.

MOUNTAINS, OKAY? IT'S LIKE THEY EVEN HAVE SALAD TOWN AND SALAD HOSPITALS ON IT OR SOMETHING. IT'S THAT LOADED.

I thought my eyeballs are going to pop from my sockets and roll around the table. Diana look from the pizza to my expression and she got this crazy grin on her face. Seriously, everyone practically laughed like crazy because of the horror of our Mountain Salad pizza! It looked like the only toppings on the pizza was salad, salad and more salad. Where the hell was the exotic turkey bacon toppings? And the irony was that it was me who ordered it. Me, the big hater of the greenies, had ordered The Mother of All Greenies pizza!! Haha! Gosh, irony makes our lives more colourful!

Anyway, I slid off all the greenies off my slice and the outcome wasn't any better. Smack dab on the middle of the slice was a thick slab of tomato. Ugh! And then, finally there's signs of turkey bacon toppings after all. Spotted on the pale pizza were small little squares of turkey bacon. We're talking microscopic squares here. There wasn't even tomato sauce on the pizza! When I had my first bite, all I tasted was cheese, tepung and salty turkey squares. The turkey actually made it taste bad since it's really salty. Tasteless and at times, salty. Nice combination. I took a long time to finish that slice.

Diana and Farisa shared a fettucine dish and it wasn't fab either. I mean, the restaurant was really stingy with the cream sauce. The dish was so dry! It tasted ok but paired it up with the pizza then we get a disaster of a lunch. And somehow, I think because of the disaster of the lunch that made the whole atmosphere... fun. For one thing, we were making cracks about the food and after we did that, we made cracks about ourselves and then, we made some more cracks about each other. I was practically revealing my dark side at the table! Yeah so, Adilah, if you don't know me by now, indeed I AM that evil. haha. All the time. We were really loud! We were the only teens there while the others are just quiet adults. Oh well, who cares?

After lunch, Farisa decided to head to Isetan to grab those couples T-shirts. You know, those T-shirts that needed two shirts to complete a picture depicted on the fronts. Yeah well, the one that Farisa wanted was sold out or something and she got really obsessed with getting it. At one point, Farisa and Diana went all by themselves to go grab some voucher of some sort.

So, it went down to me, Adilah and Azfar - the initial plan. We walked around the men's departments for 300 times or something. You know, the three of us has really different styles. Adilah is the practical and adult one, Azfar is posh prep boy and me, the newfound girly devotee. How the hell we become friends is beyond me.

Later, the three of us went out from Isetan so we can meet up with Adilah's friend who worked at Versace. I didn't know they hire kids! I would never even think of applying jobs at those expensive boutiques because I wouldn't think I'm posh enough! But the friend in question wasn't there...

We met up with the girls and then we head to KL Convention Centre for the exhibition thing! It was free admission so if anything turns sticky we just head out. Anyway, just last month I went to the same place because of the Star EduFair thing and now, it looked so different! The place was lighted in some sort of gloomy lighting to lend a more mysterious feel and the mosaic pictures on the wall was really nice. Basically, the decor was good and for the first few minutes, we're all excited. Observe:

Azfar: Oh wow! I am so glad I've come here!

30 minutes later...

Azfar: ... I'm bored.

Haha. It wasn't dead boring - to me anyways - but it wasn't that interesting either. For one thing, there's limited descriptions on the displays. So me and my friends were just puzzling over each display wondering what's the purpose of the each creation. So, the whole figuring out thing kinda dulls out the experience. Plus, only people who came in groups gets a guide so we missed out on all the facts. The video clip I watched with Adilah was pretty cool though. It's an animated clip that showed the strategies of the Muslim warriors used to fight the Christian army in the Perang Salib thing. I was wondering where were the torturing devices though... We camwhored as per usual.

Just as we're about to exit, the organisers ushered us for a cabutan bertuah thing! So, me, Diana and Farisa got all excited and stuff. And the prizes are really fantastic! There's the obligatory hamper but there's also a thumbdrive, a handphone, a laptop and an effing plasma TV!! Omg, I was praying for the plasma TV! But guess what? They're going to handout the plasma TV at 8 pm at night. PFFT. Off bets to that. We tried out a couple of games and experiments before heading out to...

CAMWHORE SOME MORE!

We went to the KLCC park since I bugged them that I wanted to take pictures there because I am obsessed with photography. And we did! It was so much fun! We did the can-can pose in front of the Twin Towers. Then, we lied on grass! We hid behind trees! Honestly, lying back on the grass was one of the most peaceful things I've done. It's so calm and comfy. Wouldn't mind doing it again. Then, we walked some more and found this huge section of the park filled with the kid's playground. So, we took advantage of the plastic buildings. I slid on slides and stuff! Aah... remembering childhood. The hardest part was to find someone to snap pictures for us. They were hardly anyone and most of them are Mat Rempits anyway and no way in hell would I trust them with my camera.

The camwhoring really sapped out the energy out of me. Posing and taking pictures are serious work, people. I've used up my memory card so that signifies a time to head back to the mall. We went to Coffee Bean since all of us are either hungry or thirsty or both. That day, the stars weren't siding with me because I chose the wrong food again! Last time, I used to eat at Coffee Bean regularly and I used to love the muffins. Now, the muffins had shrunk! It's so much smaller now. So, at the time to buy the muffin, I was momentarily confused because I can't remember which one I liked. The blueberry muffin or the chocolate chip muffin? I picked blueberry muffin because I vaguely remembered large dark spots in my muffin.. Well, guess what, not only the muffins had shrunk but the chocolate chips had shrunk too because it is definitely chocolate chips the one I liked! It's just that it looked so different now. Diana and Farisa had Apple Crumble which tasted better than my sorry-ass muffin. Hmph.

Anyway, at this point we were very tired and practically off our senses. Then, Farisa decided to finally get to know Adilah. Yeah, after sharing yards and yards of salad pizza, rolling around the grass together, Farisa decided it's finally great to know who the hell she's hanging out with. haha. We played an unenthusiastic questionaire because we're too tired to think. Then, it was already six p.m. and the others decided to go home because of the rush-hour and their curfews.

I bid them goodbye and head out to Kinokuniya to hang out for awhile while waiting for my parents to pick me up. My dad did called me to say he's gonna come a bit late and I thought, maybe just 45 minutes late. I can handle that.

It proved that they were THREE hours late. Not kidding.

I kid you not!

I was beyond all reason at that point. I felt like bawling because I was so tired. I ended sitting on the floor at a corner. I stacked books I wanted to buy and waited. Waited. And waited. Oh my god, I felt like I've just sold my soul to the devil.

And finally, after my hundreds of exasperated calls, they arrived at 9 something. I was really tired. My legs didn't feel like legs - I though I was floating on air since I can't feel them. I wanted to just flop on the floor. But I was kinda hungry too because I didn’t finish my blueberry muffin. So, we headed to the…

Food Court.

And guess what?

The food I bought was DELICIOUS.

Toldya irony makes our lives more colourful.

I bought this kuey teow and it tasted perfection. It really was. At first, I thought it’s just my hunger psyching my brain but my parents agreed that it’s really good. It’s this stall that says Penang-something and it’s on the third floor. So, next time, go there instead of CALIFORNIA PIZZA KITCHEN! See? Not all food from the Food Court is bad! Lesson for the day, kids.

After that, I went home and typed all this down.

Yes, I did and that’s why this blog post is so detailed. Haha. If I had typed it down the next day, I would’ve forgotten loads of stuff.

One of the best funnest days yet! We should do this again!! Let's make another date!

-- I slept at 3 am! Am I crazy or what?? I suddenly wasn’t tired anymore when I reached home. And the next day, I woke up in the afternoon. Haha.
