photography tryouts

I should've done this earlier but I have been really really busy lately and honestly, there's a lot more that I need to blog about. Like, how my raya went (which I'm just gonna skip now) or how I got my 5 minutes of fame on our local radio station or how my Y.E.P trip went just this morning (it was really awesome! HOT SPONSOR GUY. HOW WILL I EVER SEE HIM AGAIN) or the fact that I have a free ticket to go to Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire movie premiere tomorrow night! WOOHOO. I still feel a tingle of guilt for my sister. She really wanted to go... Even more than me... But apparently, luck is not on her side.

For one thing, she's in MMU now. She just started a new semester so I don't think my dad will give let her skip classes yet. And since she's in school, she's all the way in Melaka. And since she's all the way in Melaka, I don't think she can arrive in KL just in time to catch the premiere and still attend the classes on that day. And the movie ends at 11 p.m. so she can't possibly go back to Melaka that instant and attend classes the next day.

So yeah, there's nothing I can do to help. Literally. It's just not her luck. Maybe we'll try the next movie. I'm betting it's not even that great though - hello, 700-page book into a 2-hour movie?? I'm just there to catch the eye-candy! I'm not even excited yet. I'm just relieved that my conscience is now at peace. I told her to get the earliest movie tickets in Melaka. I don't think there's a lot of HP fans there... Ah well.

Anyway! I'm gonna talk about my Gemala Photography tryouts. At first I was kinda nervous because I feel as though I'm on my own. Sure, Diana is there but I figured she's gonna be busy with Gemala stuff. Fifi hasn't woken up yet... And Miza - well, I don't know what she was doing. Anyway, I was the few first to arrive. The senior guy that was gonna test us was really nice and friendly. Chun Wei? Chung Huey? God, I don't know how to spell his name but he was really cool. I wish I got to work with him because he seemed so into photography. He even bought his own camera so he can take pictures! He wasn't suppose to do anything!

Our assignment that day was to take creative shots of whatever we think can be made into creative shots. Oh and also creative shots of this camera lens... It was really fun! I had totally enjoyed doing it. Ok, yeah, my creative juices are kinda off that day but maybe because I don't have any models to pose for me... (god, Diana! Why not??) It was really fun though. Seriously, I would love to do that again. But with models, please. I don't care if they're willing or not. Heh.

Anyway, I'm putting up pictures that I took a few days ago for the tryouts. Some of them were took before the tryouts because I needed to present a portfolio and all. This is gonna be a long post..

I do not know who the hell is this girl. It's not Diana if you're thinking about it. I was walking in KLCC this one time and I was alone. So, with camera in hand, I was waiting for anything interesting to happen. And voila! I saw The Girl. At first, I was thinking of taking the pictures in paparazzi-ish way. All the time, I was praying that the girl doesn't wake up or her friend would come up or something. But after a whole 5 minutes of taking pictures with the flash going crazy, she still wouldn't wake up! So, I became braver until I was really really close to her. I don't know what she's doing sleeping in a busy mall at 12 p.m.! But I think this picture is cool and probably gonna Photoshop it or something.

Hari Kecemerlangan. We were in McD, just hanging out. A day before the photography tryouts, Fifi suggested me to use this picture. And I'm like, why not? I love the expressions on everyone of them because all of them had different facial expressions and they don't look FAKE. This is why I love taking candid pictures. And it's not like you guys look retarded in it or something.

Chemical bottles from our Chemistry Lab. After been staying most of my school days in the Chemistry Lab this year, I gotta have some pics of the lab! The boys always get naughty with those stuff. Some stupid idiot of a senior drank one of the bottles once and end up having his stomach pumped. His suicide is interrupted, poor thing.

"Cepat Fifi! Pose!" and this is what she came up with. Ok, it's not like I gave her much time because I know Diana is freaking out and all that. They were in a great positions - both of them! So, I quickly snap the camera and here's the outcome. Fifi's body looks kinda weird... If you squint, you could see Diana in there, holding up her hand. She said,'TAKNAKLAH ATIKAH!! EIII!' I swear to God. She said that.

The ixora bushes next to the boy's changing room. I wanted a close-up pic. And this picture reminded me of summers. Even though we Malaysians don't have summers and I don't think ixoras are summer flowers. But it's just a pretty pic and looks like it could turn into a desktop wallpaper.

KITTY!! I love this cat. He's so friendly and didn't turn away when I used the camera. But he's really active though. I had to beg for him to stay put. Most of the time I would say "C'mon, kitty, DON'T MOVE. Don't move. God, just - look at me now kitty! Look at me. Look up, dammit. C'mon kitty, don't move!" Luckily I have cats of my own so I know how to handle him. I wish I can get closer though but I know he'll just move.

That's it folks. Sorry that the pics are in... different sizes but I just can't give a damn about that. Probably gonna photoshop some of the pics so check out my DeviationArt, kays? Kudos!

-- I got in! Well, I think I got in... For now, I'm in. Yeah. But unless I don't have three advertisements till next year, I'm out. So, I'm not really in but I'm in. God, this Gemala folks are messing with my freakin' brain.

I liked your picture where you had to take of the camera lens and the chemistry bottles. That was cool. :D
