My Beloved Chazzy

Alright, I know school is over and stuff and there is no purpose whatsoever to bring books to school. You would have to be mental to actually bring books to school. I'm probably going to throw some of my exercise books and text books and stuff. So, before I actually do that I figured I'm going to post one homework assignment that I did that I'm still very much proud of. It was journal from Mr. J. And the title is : The Person I Admired Most. I know. It's crappy. Most people did their mothers, teachers and well, the prime minister. Guess who I did?

Chester Bennington.

I'm such a die-hard fan (as Zhi Hao repeatedly reminded me)

Journal: The Person I Admired Most

Before I began my journal, let me put the record straight. I am a full-fledged teenager who is pretty much influenced by her surroundings especially a television channel called MTV. now, what would a hormone-driven teenager will do with such tiring task of writing a journal titled 'The Person I Admired Most'? Dump it into the trash, I'd say. But since I have nothing to do, I will give it a try. Pushing those cliched ideas aside, my journal begins: the person I admired most is none other than Chester Bennington, the vocalist of Linkin Park.

Call me crazy but I am one of Linkin Park's fans who actually devotes her time listening to Chester's croons. Actually, he doesn't croon. He screamed words, spat his lyrics and penned half of the band's songs! How can we stop loving him? Not in a million years. His voice is like a fresh air from all those annoying sugary pop songs. In the midst of the year 2001, when Britney Spear's wannabes were stocking up, Chester's voice broke through the music seams and quickly won our hearts. Teacher, I know you must be thinking of putting me into an asylum but in this journal, I will assure you that Mr. Bennington is worthy of the admiration he gets.

Chester is dubbed as 'the Beast' because of his manic singing while onstage. As you know, Linkin Park came to Malaysia last October for a show. Many people would think that this man is just an artist but I know better. Hailed from Arizona, Chester had a terrible childhood. He was sexually-abused when he was just a little boy. Instead of shunning his torn past aside, he embraced it and now gives motivational talks to other sexually-abused victims.

This man is not only a singer but also a father and a husband. He married Samantha Bennington seven years ago and she just delivered a healthy baby boy named Draven in the year of 2002 on 19th April (which is ironically, my birthday too! Yey!). Many fan girls didn't mind their marriage. In fact, we love Samantha for her honest love for him. I mean, Chester was practically unknown years back! He was a newbie in the music industry and was in another band that never even made it into the international recognition. What woman in the right mind would marry a then-unpopular singer? Samantha did - and now living in luxury.

As you can see, Chester's life didn't revolve around the glitz and glamour. Even though his band was dubbed as 'the most hard-working band in America' and won numerous awards, they remained grounded. Many of their songs are about real lives and tragedy - something that young troubled teenagers can relate to. So, their songs tributes a sort of a 'rock therapy'. Yes, there is such thing. Instead of brandishing a gun and eliminate their friends, the teenagers listen to hard-kicking music to soothe them down. Weird how things work.

Chester Bennington isn't perfect. In fact, his life is horrible if you look at one point of view. He is from a broken family, was sexually-abused and had a drug addiction at a tender age of 11. And yet till now, he survives, drug-free and had numerous achievements in life. His songs, his messianism, told children these days that life isn't perfect so is the world. But if you stayed long enough, you will see the good things in life. Teacher, he is just a man - not a superhero nor a wizard - I didn't admire him for his status or good looks only but for giving hope to other people in the world that just because the past is dim, it doesn't mean the future isn't bright.

-- The blue-coloured wordings are exactly from my exercise book. Words that has been changed are for grammar corrections. This is the first time that I went online just to research on my homework! All these facts about Chazzy is true and if there is something wrong about it, inform me, aight? Mr. J only said 'Good deep reasoning.' and that is it! So much for being hard work...
